Just like a flash 2014 is about to close
its doors and many are wondering, “When did we start the year?”
You can see in your mind’s eye now when
they announced in church (for those that attended Watch night service), “Happy
New Year”. And then the excitement that greeted that very moment; the greetings
and hugging; the congratulations, prayers and prophecies…
Then the calculations, permutations,
expectations and goal setting and goal getting plans and strategies that were
laid out at the beginning of the year (New Year resolutions for some people).
And all of a sudden, we have come to that
time in/of the year when people begin to look back over the year and reflect to
do stock taking…
There’s no doubt that there’s been ups and
downs, good and bad experiences, testimonies (or as the Okoye brothers, Psquare
puts it – “Testi-MONEY”) and so on, though the positive side may not be your
experience.
I am not going to concern myself with those
who have recorded MORE positive experiences, but those who looking back may feel
they really do not have anything to celebrate YET!
And for this category of people, the first
thing I’ll like to tell you is “Just because the cloud is covering the sun does
not mean it has stopped shining.” – Abbeylosophy In the same vein, the darkness of the night
cannot steal the glory of the sun. It is true that you have not achieved much
like you projected you would have done by this time of the year. Believe me,
you are not alone. There are several others who feel like you do across the
world who looking back will say they are worthless, useless and their lives
meaningless.
But there’s another truth I know, of this
army of ‘non-achievers’ there are still believers. Those who know that weeping
can only endure for the night, but joy will come in the morning.
These people are ‘believers’ because they know
that “with God all things are possible” and “unto him that believes all things
are possible.” They have a conviction that with God the things they did not
achieve in ten months can be done in two months. And as a result, they keep
pushing; seeking out new opportunities and attempting new conquer mountains.
This will make me ask you, are you a
believer? I ask this question not because of the religion you ‘profess’ but
because of the convictions you should ‘project’. Not being a believer will make
you resign to fate rather than act with faith.
You may ask, “So what do I do now?”
From this very moment, stop worrying and
crying, rather start dancing - literally. Think, talk and act like someone who
has gotten it, because you will get it. Don’t throw in the towel yet, don’t bid
2014 goodbye yet, because it is not yet over. Push for more. Your ‘sun’ will
rise again and your glory will shine – you will share the good news – it shall
indeed be a “Testi-MONEY.”
