The Golden girl of Nigeria flying the Nigerian flag |
Like
her name, she has proven to the rest of the world that something good – a
blessing can come out of Nigeria. In an unprecedented manner on the BIG stage
she has shown the world the true meaning of Nigeria. She has written not only
her name, but that of the entire nation in ‘GOLD’ and that she did by finishing ahead of English duo of Jodie Williams and Bianca
Williams with a time of 22.25 seconds
to win the 200m sprint at the Commonwealth Games in Scotland, after
previously dusting her rivals, Jamaica's veteran
athlete Veronica Campbell-Brown and Kerron Stewart who won the silver and
bronze respectively in the 100m. What a feat or should I write what a #BLESSING?
"I am happy I won, it wasn't
favourable weather and running two rounds in one day is new for me… I wanted
something faster. I didn't get the time but I got the win and two golds. It's
amazing." – Blessing
Okagbare

While
I am happy and join other Nigerians to celebrate this lady of GOLD, I want to
quickly point your attention, yes YOUR attention, YOU reading this piece and
indeed the attention of every Nigerian (or anyone who may be reading this) to
this fact, sorry, this truth that there is a ‘BLESSING’ in you.
What
do I mean you may wonder!
Blessing
Okagbare is not achieving the feat she is doing today by some unusual means;
rather she is doing so by simply tapping into the ‘BLESSING’ that the Creator
has endowed her with – that which you and I call ‘gift’, ‘talent’, ‘potential’,
‘latent ability’, or whatever you choose to call it by…
The
truth is that this ‘blessing’ is already resident on your inside. Your duty is
to dig deep down on unleash the power of that ‘blessing’ on the world, so that
one day, some day and somewhere on this planet, the world will stand still to
celebrate you.
Do
I hear that groan that you can’t run like Okagbare? You don’t have to run like
her. Her own blessing is finding expression through her legs, yours can be
through the use of your hands, your mind or some other parts of your body. Just
DIG DEEP.
The
Scripture posits that the whole earth waits (anticipates, looks forward to,
yearns for, expects) for the manifestation (showing forth, full expression,
unleashing) of the sons of God. (Romans 8:19)
200m race |
What
a tragedy it would be if you deny the world of the realization of their
expectation through your non-manifestation.
GO
AND BE A BLESSING THROUGH THE BLESSING WITH WHICH YOU HAVE BEEN BLESSED.
